Fochabers is a small town in Scotland situated on the Moray coastal route between Buckie and Elgin on the east-side of the River Spey. Fochabers is a tranquil town surrounded by the beautiful scenery and wildlife of the coastal Speyside pine forests. It is a popular tourist destination with hotels and holiday accommodation throughout the area, the town has a variety of shops, places to eat out and a garden centre. Architecturally interesting buildings include the Georgian Church with clock tower dating from 1798, and Gordon Chapel with twin spires, the Folk Museum is housed in an old church in the High Street displaying a large collection of horse-drawn vehicles. Attractions include the Baxter’s Highland village Visitor Centre, which has been the base for the Baxter’s food company since 1868, with the Old Shop Museum, culinary demonstrations, food-tasting, a restaurant and a kid’s adventure playground. The House of Mulben is a farm and an outdoors activity centre with off-road driving, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, archery, falconry and fishing. Fochabers is a main stopping point on the The Speyside Way; a long distance walking route from Buckie to Aviemore. There are sight-seeing tours, cycle routes and several way-marked walks for all abilities through the pine forests at Culbin, Quarrelwood and Roseisle Forests.
