Portree is a pretty Hebridean town on the Isle Of Skye, with an attractive Harbour that sweeps round like the wave of an arm, edged by a colourful painted pallet of buildings and old cottages, which are set against a backdrop of high ground and cliffs. The busy Harbour has brightly coloured fishing and sailing boats reflected on the water. For lovers of the great outdoors whether it’s countryside walks, woodlands, and the dramatic scenery of Glen Brittle wished for, or the slopes of the Black Cuillins that tempts, or even Macleod’s Table Mountains, all wishes are soon granted. For brave hearts why not walk through the stunning Trotternish Ridge and look out for the rock formations of the Old Man of Storr. Enjoy the beach, or explore the Skye Heritage Centre and Aros Centre which has an intriguing story to tell. Perhaps the Coastal Paths will beckon with amazing sunsets and wildlife, or there is always the chance to climb aboard for a memorable trip to Raasay, or for lovers of history the Iron Age Broch at Struan will reverse time in an instant. Follow in the footsteps of Lairds, and Chieftains, and even Bonnie Prince Charlie who came here in 1746.
