Horley is a Market town that dates back to Saxon times, in the County of Surrey. The town is perfectly placed for Gatwick Airport and the surrounding countryside, home to twenty one thousand two hundred people. There is a large choice of shopping on offer that will lighten any purse, or for an evenings entertainment the Archway Theatre is sure to please. A trip to Saint Hill Manor will reveal magnificent 18th Century architecture and sumptuous interiors, overlooking a stunning lake that sees fishermen ever hopeful, where Nature Trails take their visitor on a journey of discovery being rewarded with wildlife and a waterfall… Time reverses at the Gatwick Aviation Museum which has an evocative collection of aircraft on display. Or perhaps a visit to Britain’s oldest working windmill will unravel the mystery of grinding flour, Outwood Windmill is impressive at first glance, raising 39’ from the ground and sails that stretch 60’ across. If Watermills are wished for then Ifield Watermill will grant it every time, the working watermill explains it’s history through documents and exhibits that will bring the Millers past back to life. Step over the artists and photographers as they will loiter at the Mill Pond where the picturesque setting is sprinkled with birds, butterflies and dragonflies……..perfect.
