Glenisla is a hamlet and parish of north-west Forfarshire, 9 miles of Alyth on the left bank of the River Isla. Glenisla is the most westerly of the five Angus Glens. It is situated in the north-west corner on the southern edge of the Grampian Mountains. Glenisla is a popular tourist resort with guest accommodation in classic heritage surroundings with beautiful landscapes, heather covered slopes, steep corries, winding burns and waterfalls. The best views can be found at the top of Mount Blair the highest hill 744m above sea level. Glenisla is a haven for wildlife and outdoor activities. The challenging golf course has a variety of holes incorporating natural hazards and terrain. Glenisla is ideally positioned as a central base for access to many activities and attractions. Glenisla borders Glenclova to the east and Glenshee to the east, centres for skiing, hang-gliding and canyoning, the glens and lochs offer an endless list of activities including deer-stalking, fishing, hill-walking and game-hunting. Glenisla is a 20 minutes drive from excellent shopping and sightseeing at Dundee and Perth, it is near numerous historic sites and distilleries. The Parish church was built in 1821 replacing an older building; it is small oblong Gothic building with belfry and session house.
