Glenfarg is a small village in the county of Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It is situated in the Ochil Hills near Clackmannan. The eastern side of the village runs parallel with the M90 motorway. In 1890 the Forth Rail Bridge opened and the North British Railway company planned to open a direct line to Perth, the original settlement in the area was the hamlet of Arngask situated further east. Glenfarg station was built to serve this upland area, and the new settlement quickly grew known as Glenfarg. The railway closed in 1970 and as a result the village is generally by-passed by the motorway, allowing drivers a mere glimpse of the village as they drive by. The village has some interesting 19th century buildings including the Arngask Library 1892 and the Arngask Parish church 1908. Even though Glenfarg has a busy motorway on one side it still retains an aura of tranquillity, the village has not lost its essential character and is a popular holiday resort, offering a scenic natural route through the Ochil Hills; it is a quaint winding glen with a beautiful park, hotels, a church, and selection of shops. Activities include tennis courts, riding school and bowling green.
