Events in Lickey | 10 Places to Stay
Nestling close to the junction of the M5 and the M42 in the nearby countryside is the village of Lickey. Nearby are the Upper Bittell and Lower Bittell Reservoirs and just to the north of the village is the Lickey Hills Golf Club offering some of the best views from any golf course that I have visited, and this provides some idea of how rural this area can be, and yet it offers a convenience that many appreciate.
Lickey though is probably best known for its Lickey Hills Country Park, some 520 acres of hills and parkland covered by a wide variety of trees and heathland that is rich in its diversity of wildlife. The park provides some of the best panoramic views over the surrounding countryside whilst the Visitor Centre offers a wealth of advice on how best to enjoy the park, from suggested walks along the nature trails to guided tours.
For those of you visiting Lickey you may want to visit the famous Lickey Incline, just to the south of the town it is a short section of railway (some 2 miles) joining Bromsgrove to Blackwell but featuring the steepest gradient for a railway line in the UK today and that was originally constructed in the mid 19th century.
