Located in the Midlands the town of Dorridge is the archetypical commuter town, it is suggested that prior to the arrival of the railway system that this was nothing more than a few properties. Lying to the east of the M40 and south of the M42 and that is part of the attraction of this location which is on the edge of the Green Belt on the outskirts of Birmngham. The Industrial Revolution of the 19th century saw the coming of the railways and Dorridge, which even in those days was a relatively affluent area, felt the need for a railway station. The Knowle and Dorridge Railway station was duly opened and this encouraged the growth of the local community. Today, despite the closure of many railway stations in the1960’s, Dorridge with its village status still retains its railway station. Today Dorridge is still very much a sought after location in which to live, it boasts a small shopping centre, a village hall, three churches and an excellent primary school. Lying adjacent to the Warwickshire countryside and with excellent housing and transport links to Birmingham either by rail or car its appeal to a wide range of people is understandable.
