St Ives is a Market Town set on the banks of the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire. It reaches with long fingers back into history as far as the Saxons, was well known in Medieval times for it’s Market, and of course Oliver Cromwell lived here for a while, marked by a fine statue in the Market Square, and has a 15th Century Bridge. A visit to Fen Drayton Nature Reserve will take you on a journey through a network of pathways where wildlife is in abundance. Or there is always Holt Island that is home to King Fishers, Butterflies and Deer…. Or perhaps the wonder of seeing Birds of Prey in flight at the Raptor Foundation, with over two hundred birds such as Owls, Buzzards, and Hawks, the impressive flying prowess is on show during the displays, or walk around the Flower Garden, Art Gallery, or for tired feet rest a while in the Tea Room. Why not climb aboard a relaxing River Cruise where ducks and swans glide past, or for artists pack an extra brush as a trip to Houghton Mill will be hard to beat. Built in the 17th Century and still working today, rewinds time instantly.
