Ramsey is an historic Market Town in the County of Cambridgeshire, home to 6,000 people, the town was founded around the Benedictine Abbey in the 10th Century, and the 15th Century Gatehouse still remains today. Close by is the church of St Thomas A Becket, with fabulous arches and stained glass windows by the William Morris Company makes an interesting interlude. If that’s not enough history then a trip to Ramsey Rural Museum will satisfy the most discerning visitor, housed in 17th Century farm buildings in open countryside, experience what life was like with the interesting displays and exhibits of a Chemist shop, Cobblers, together with Victorian Kitchen, Bedroom, and so much more…. Or there is always the enchanting 18th Century Houghton Mill, spread over five floors, set on the River Great Ouse, the weather boarded front has graced many an artist’s page, with intriguing displays of flour grinding. This working Mill is in a lovely setting with circular walks, and riverside meadows that will take her visitor on a journey of discovery…. Or perhaps the Raptor Foundation is more for you, offering medical care and home to two hundred birds, from Buzzards and Falcons, with twilight flying displays of Owls, makes for a fascinating visit with unforgettable memories of the pleasant kind…..
