Buckden is an historic village in Cambridgeshire with houses dating from the 15th Century through to the 19th Century. The pretty church of St Mary would grace any artists page, the doorway is the oldest part and dates back to the 13th Century. Or perhaps for a leisurely stroll in a lovely setting why not visit Buckden Marina where colourful yachts are mirrored in the water, or there is always the bar or restaurant serving fantastic views and a varied menu. Or for the lovers of history, a visit to Buckden Towers which is a fortified Manor that reaches back into history for centuries, originally a Palace for a bishop, has had many royal visitors, including Henry V111 and James ,1and not forgetting Katherine Of Aragon who was sent here after the annulment of her marriage to Henry V111. Or just a few miles away is picturesque Houghton Mill, that sits on the River Ouse, still working, shares it’s history. Or if grandeur and magnificence are wished for, there is always the stunning Georgian House of Wimpole Hall, which has many treasures inside, add the intriguing Servants quarters, and delightful grounds designed by Capability Brown complete with impressive lake, all wishes are granted.
