Seascale is an interesting coastal village on the edge of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. The village dates back to Roman times, and is blessed with wide sandy beaches, and a wooden jetty where rod danglers try their luck. The spectacular surrounding countryside beckons to walkers, or perhaps Hallsenna Moor National Nature Reserve will be first choice. The evocative ruins of 12th Century Calder Abbey may be seen from a pathway alongside the River Calder, or perhaps the Roman Bath House at Ravensglass will impress. Calling all Railway enthusiasts, Eskdale Railway Museum offers a chance to ride on a steam train, this narrow gauge railway travels through picturesque countryside to Dalegarth, where, the enchanting view of 16th Century Eskdale Mill will unravel the past. Or be prepared to be amazed at Mother Nature's beauty with a trip to Stanley Ghyll Force, a thunderous waterfall cascading 60' into a narrow gorge. Younger explorers will be enthralled at Muncaster Gardens, Castle, and Owl Centre, where fascinating treasures and magnificent Owls will grant most wishes.
