Sawrey is a picturesque village skirting the western edge of Lake Windemere, cloaked by soul pleasing countryside in the county of Cumbria. The village has attractive white painted cottages and quiet lanes, and is overlooked by the woodland of Claife Heights . There's a chance to follow in the footsteps of Beatrix Potter with Moss Eccles Tarn, where fishing for brown trout is the order of the day, she enjoyed fishing from a small rowing boat that is now part of an impressive collection at the Steam Boat Museum where visitors have a chance to climb aboard for an unforgettable boat trip on Lake Windermere. After walking and sailing perhaps take a seat in Grizedale Forest Theatre for an enjoyable performance.
