Thorverton is a Devonshire village set in the beautiful Exe Valley, with cobbled streets, thatched cottages, and a stream that gently meanders it’s way through this ancient village that’s home to nine hundred people. Walkers will happily explore the miles of countryside with unforgettable scenery, tired feet may wish to try the three Coaching Inns, a pleasing legacy from centuries past, or perhaps take a look at the impressive church whose architecture is mainly 15th Century, for architecture on a grander scale Exeter Cathedral is nearby and won’t fail to impress all who gaze. Possibly the promise of a Medieval cob and thatched cottage will tempt a visit to Markers Cottage where interesting treasures wait to be seen, or there is always Clyston Mill, an enchanting working water mill set on the banks of the River Clyst. Why not travel back in time at Budlake Old Post Office where it’s 1950’s all the way, or younger visitors have the choice of play areas, a model village, or the thrill of riding a steam train at the Devon Railway Centre, or for an eclectic mix of costumes, machinery, and even a Blacksmiths Forge Tiverton Museum of Devon Life has it all.
