Stoke Canon is a small village surrounded by a patchwork of green countryside, in the county of Exeter in Devon, home to nearly seven hundred people. The village dates far back into the history books and the old bridge which spans the River Culm is a legacy from centuries past. The church of St Mary Magdalene has an impressive tower, or maybe the magnificent architecture at nearby Exeter Cathedral will beckon, with majestic Norman towers, and a breath stealing vaulted ceiling. If the thought of exploring underground passages is appealing, then put on the hard hat and discover Exeter’s Medieval Passages. Or perhaps a tour around Clyston Mill will explain the secrets of a working Mill, set in an enchanting location. For all things 1950’s it must be Budlake Old Post office which has memories of yesteryear. Younger visitors will enjoy the thrilling rides and animals on offer at Crealy Adventure Park, if that’s not enough Connections Discovery Centre has fabulous interactive exhibits. Or the Devon Railway Centre is where a wave of the flag starts the steam engines, complete with model village, and play areas that will put smiles firmly onto faces, why not climb aboard for an enjoyable journey along the beautiful Exe Valley.
