Starcross is a riverside village on the banks of the Exe Estuary in Devon , home to over 1700 people. There are elegant Georgian and Edwardian buildings peppered throughout, and even a chance to take a river cruise, or step aboard the Passenger Ferry which sails across to Exmouth. Walkers can explore the miles of footpaths, or maybe the gentle pace of Oak Meadow Golf Course will be the answer, blessed with nine holes, parkland and lakes. Lovers of history will be drawn to 14th Century Powderham Castle with intriguing tales waiting to be shared, the Secret Garden has friendly animals, or perhaps take the unforgettable Deer Safari, or be amazed at the flying prowess of the Birds Of Prey. Starcross station is where the thrilling sound of a steam locomotive may tempt her visitor to a trip on the Dart Valley Railway, next door the Pump House is a legacy from Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s day. Animal lovers are spoilt for choice with Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, or perhaps the fine thoroughbreds at Exeter Race Course will be favourite. Or if the thought of trampolines, animals, rides and even a pirate ship sounds pleasing World Of Country Life has it all.
