Shaldon is a picture perfect ancient fishing village on the Teign River in South Devon, home to over fifteen hundred people. Charm oozes as the labyrinth of narrow winding lanes unveil thatched cottages and elegant Georgian houses. Sea breezes blow away the cobwebs as swimmers enjoy the beach, and the magic is complete with a walk through Smugglers Tunnel to Ness Cove. Time it right and see the Regatta where colourful yachts jockey for position, or climb aboard one of the pleasure boats to see Dolphins, take the Ferry to Teignmouth with it’s delightful Pier, or try your luck Fishing. The red sandstone cliffs of Ness Headland offers stunning views, or there is always the woodland, ponds and streams to explore at Decoy Country Park. Lovers of history will relish 14th Century Powderham Castle, or how about Compton Castle where turrets and towers of this Medieval Masterpiece would grace any Fairy Tale. Smaller visitors are kept busy with a trip to Babbacombe Model Village where fascinating models come to life, or perhaps the Hedgehog Hospital and Prickly Ball Farm will be favourite with a chance to meet Hedgehogs, and ride in a pony and cart. For something different Kent Cavern Show Caves has underground passageways that lead on an unforgettable journey.
