The Lovely village of Brendon in North Devon is situated within the Exmoor National Park. This peaceful spot nestles in the tranquil valley of the East Lyn river. Beyond the scenic open moorland stretching from the valley are the steep rugged cliffs dropping down to the wild Atlantic ocean. Summer is a perfect time to visit the moor when the deep purple heather and yellow gorse spread a rich scent as well as providing a breathtaking backdrop of scenery for a holiday of relaxation and exploration. Excellent salmon and trout fishing can be enjoyed in the East Lyn. Wildlife abounds in this beautiful location and on one of the moorland walks, if you are quiet and lucky enough, you might even catch a fleeting glimpse of a magnificent red deer. Recently, Brendon has become the location for the annual Exmoor Folk Festival each May, where attractions include Morris Dancers, folk and craft workshops and concerts. The Brendon valley and surrounding moorland provide ideal camping facilities and there are also plenty of hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs. The local church is dedicated to the 6th Century Irish St Brendan. A truly glorious spot to enjoy all the natural wonder of rural Devon.
