Owslesbury is a small village set amidst the rolling countryside of Hampshire and is a village that was originally known as Oselbury or indeed Owlesbury in the 14th century and even today there is some confusion over the name of this charming little village. The parish of Owslesbury can trace its name back to the Domesday Book and today the area is well established village with many attractions close by, not least of which is Marwell Hall which was built in the 14th century and many of the original features are still visible today. The church of St Andrews in the village pre-dates that having been built in the 12th century but the nave and tower were added later in the 17th century. Owslesbury is within easy reach of the M25 and the M3 and whilst there is no railway direct to Owslesbury there is a station close by at Eastleigh. This is a charming village virtually unknown apart from those people who are resident and whilst it may not enjoy the reputation of the larger villages in the area it is not without its own charisma, Owslebury is definitely worth a visit, narrow lanes and thatched roof cottages nestling within the rolling Hampshire countryside.
