Ashby De La Zouch is a small historic Market Town with many Elizabethan houses and storybook Bow Fronted Georgian shops that line the High Street. Shopping is a pleasure whether you choose Market Street or explore the passageways and courtyards, or visit the Daily Market. Or why not visit the Ferrers Centre, which is a Contemporary Craft Workshop in a Georgian Stable Block., Ashby Museum showcases the history of the town and surrounding villages and tells the fascinating story of Ashby’s past, there is even a model of the castle, if you would prefer to climb the 78’ high tower at the Medieval castle ruins then follow the footsteps of Henry V111, James 1, and Charles 1 all of which visited here, not least Mary Queen of Scots whose stay was an enforced one when she was imprisoned here. The pretty Canal stretches from Conkers to Moira Furnace, a 19th Century Blast Furnace. Or why not gain an insight into a Miners life deep underground, the Snibston Discovery Park is on the sight of a former colliery, with 90 interactive exhibits all set within the heart of the beautiful National Forest where the visitor Centre has much to offer, whether you walk, cycle go horse riding or simply enjoy the wildlife, time it right and you could enjoy building a bat Box, or ‘Well Dressing’ or even the Scare Crow Festival’, or even ‘Plant A Tree’. Or Perhaps the thought of seeing a Bat Eared Fox, Rainbow Boa, laughing Kookaburra or even a red footed tortoise will draw you to Twycross Zoo. Or how about getting wet, at Bosworth Water Park 20 acres of lakes for canoeing kayaking or even windsurfing. Ashby De La Zouch and surrounding area Is a treasure chest of wonders waiting to be opened and shared
