Appleby Magna is a small village that dates back to the Iron Age in the county of Leicestershire home to almost 1100 people, the church of St Michael’s and All Angels sits in the centre of the village and the tall spire can be easily seen from a distance. Just a mile away is Twycross Zoo where a large collection of primates, large cats, elephants and so many more call home, for smaller visitors a chance to experience the rides on offer at Pirates Cove is one that should be taken. Or there is always the fun to be had at Bosworth Water Park with a lake for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, Rod Danglers also have the chance of hooking the big one. For history lovers Tamworth Castle is a dramatic Norman Castle with Motte and Bailey that has a stunning Great Hall and furnished rooms, time your visit right and enjoy the Civil War re-enactment. The area is shrouded in history and a visit to the Battle of Bosworth Field where the Wars of The Roses ended with the death of Richard 111 and the birth of the Tudors with Henry V111, complete with Heritage Centre, and amazing exhibitions that show the journey from the 15th Century through to modern day is fascinating……
