Sleaford is a busy Market Town surrounded by Fenland in the heart of Lincolnshire dating back to the Iron Age. The church of St Deny’s is famed for it’s spire that reaches 144’ skywards, the stunning stained glass is only a glimpse of the many treasures, set in the Market Square, time your visit right and the Market will be buzzing. If the rushing sound of water in a pretty spot is a wish then it can be granted on a visit to Cogglesford Mill, still producing flour as it has done for nearly a thousand years. An interesting interlude that gives their visitor an insight into craft and design is the Hub Centre, a four storey warehouse set on the banks of the River Slea. Or how about a time capsule of the 1800’s, Mrs Smith’s cottage has it. For the interesting history of the RAF it has to be the Cranwell Aviation Centre where jet fighters and real film footage is on display, don’t forget the flight simulator. For younger visitors Crazee Bongos indoor play centre is a must, on three levels, with slides and a giant spiral snake what better fun could there be…. perhaps a longer visit to Sleaford.
