Waterloo is best known for its station - the busiest in Britain and the centre of an important transport interchange that also includes a smaller mainline station, Waterloo East, as well as bus and underground stations. Until 2007, Waterloo International was the London terminus for the Eurostar, now relocated to St Pancras. The main station, immortalised in The Kinks' 1967 hit "Waterloo Sunset", is a favourite setting in novels and films, with couples arranging to rendezvous under the famous four-faced clock. It's a short walk to the South Bank, although Waterloo has its own attractions. The historic Old Vic theatre, celebrated as "the actors' theatre", is now under the artistic directorship of Kevin Spacey. The Young Vic, meanwhile, aims to attract younger audiences. Both theatres are in The Cut, a street filled with lively shops, bars and restaurants. Gabriel's Wharf is also worth visiting for its colourful designer shops and al fresco dining by the Thames. It's located between London Television Centre and the Oxo Tower, which is home to restaurants, galleries and design studios. Local art centres include Waterloo Gallery and Jerwood Space, while the BFI London IMAX Cinema boasts Britain's biggest screen, the height of five double-decker buses.
