North Finchley is a London town in its own right, spreading out around the central junction of Tally Ho Corner where a large and striking pub, also called the Tally Ho, is a local landmark. Here, too, is a more contemporary venue: the artsdepot opened in 2004 as a home for theatre, music, comedy and dance, providing opportunities for performers of all ages, both learners and pros. Also at Tally Ho Corner is Harris Fine Art, an old family business that's popular for miles around for its wide range of artists' materials and its picture framing. North Finchley is primarily residential, with a large and varied stock of Victorian housing, ranging from cottages to handsome, double-fronted, detached homes, although the luxury flats at Tally Ho Corner bear testament to changing times. This area now offers a lively spread of restaurants as well as funky bars and clubs to suit a young clientele, while regular day-to-day shopping is right on the doorstep. Family entertainment is offered at the Great North Leisure Park, which provides cinema screens, tenpin bowling, a games arcade, and a leisure centre and lido. North Finchley is convenient to the M1, the M25 and the North Circular Road.
