Ston Easton is a small village in Somerset sandwiched between the City Of Bath and the cathedral City of Wells on the slopes of the Mendip Hills, it has an 11th Century church with delightful countryside walks. There are many places to visit close by, the hardest thing will be which one to see first, Bishops Palace Wells, is an evocative Medieval Palace and has been home to bishops for 800 years, with a portcullis, drawbridge, a thought provoking private chapel, and majestic swans that glide on the moat and ring a bell for food…….. Or perhaps Wookey Hole Caves will enthral, as they have existed for millions of years, complete with an ethereal secret river and magical encrusted caves, or the Hyenas Den showcase the River Axe cascading in many waterfalls. If that’s not enough there is always the Cheddar Gorge and caves, with a museum that explains the haunting history of what life was like in the Stone Age, add Britain’s oldest skeleton add an encounter with a dragon at the crystal Quest that shows wizards, goblins and even fairy princesses, once outside climb Jacobs ladder some 274 steps to reach the look out tower and the Gorge walk….fabulous
