Beadnell is located midway between Holy Island and Alnmouth on the north east coast of Northumberland, an area designated as a heritage Coastline and is a popular holiday destination consisting of Beadnell Harbour, old Beadnell village and Beadnell Haven. The harbour was built in the eighteenth century, along with the limekilns and are now protected by the National trust. Bronze Age burial chambers have been discovered along the shore and east of the harbour, at ebb’s Neuk Point, lie the ruins of a thirteenth century chapel. The original chapel is thought to have been built in the seventh century, by Oswald, King of Northumbria, for his sister St.Ebba Beadnell today offers a diverse selection of water sport activities with the Beadnell Sailing Club running several events during the summer and numerous activities available. Cycling is popular with many quiet country lanes offering spectacular views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Rambling and walking are activities also well catered for with miles of unspoilt footpaths and bridle paths, beach and country walks and a varied, accessible terrain. During winter months, birdwatching is a popular activity around the natural dune habitats and nearby bird sanctuaries although the summer breeding season also offers a great deal of interest
