A thriving town in East Sussex, in existence since the 12th Century and was famous for it’s wool and agriculture. With a pretty river that flows through the village, and 15th Century Bridge Cottage now a museum. It sits on the southern boundary of the High Weald with Medieval buildings. For those of you that enjoy the great outdoors, West Park Nature Reserve where the wood or large lake won’t disappoint, why not join one of the ’Bat walks’ with a Ranger. Boothland ancient woodland sits in 12.5 acres, or Harlands Farm pond which is the largest ’Toad Crossing’ Pond around. The monthly Farmers Market, or local shops have much to offer, and if you walk down from the church to the river for picturesque opportunities with the paint brush or camera. Holy Cross church, was on the ’pilgrims’ route to Chichester, holds records dating back to 1600, although re-built in 19th Century it is an interesting place to visit. With Bentley Miniature railway and Wildfowl and Motor Museum at Halland close by, together with Wilderness Wood set in 60,000 acres with a kaleidoscope of activities, the only problem is where to start and what to do first.
