Hayling Island is to be found in Hampshire and combines the villages of East and West Hayling which is today a popular coastal resort that has plenty to offer the resident and visitor alike. Its long beaches a haven for anyone who enjoys the seaside, wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing or simply swimming are activities that are all to be found here. Hayling Island has embraced all that there is to attract the tourist capitalising on the assets that it has, around 3 miles of beaches right on the Solent together with many more miles of beaches around Langstone and Chichester Harbours. As everyone knows a good seaside resort has to have a fairground and Hayling Island is no exception, it might not be the largest in the world but with its range of dodgems and fairground rides it certainly provides good entertainment or if you want to explore the seafront without expending too much energy then there is always the narrow gauge railway that runs along the seafront from Eastoke to Beachlands. It was in the early 19th century that it was decided that Hayling Island should become a tourist resort but it remained a place for farmers and fishermen until the early 20th century at which time its popularity grew attracting thousands of visitors every year to this unique location here on the banks of the Solent.
