Brandon

Brandon is a Market town surrounded by Forest, in the Breckland area of East Anglia, on the borders of Suffolk and Norfolk, home to eight thousand people. It dates back to prehistoric times, and was renowned for it's mining of flint, and rabbit fur. There is a delightful market on Fridays and Saturdays, and a collection of interesting shops that will lighten any purse, or get back to Nature with a visit to Brandon Country Park which covers 32 acres of stunning grounds and woodland, or rest a spell by the lake, if that not enough High lodge Forest Park has woodland trails, and beautiful scenery, or for wildlife and an invitation to adopt a rabbit Weeting Heath National Nature Reserve has it all. Romantic ruins are waiting at Medieval Weeting Castle, or for spectacular architecture it has to be Ely Cathedral which commands the skyline, inside will unveil the majestic Octagonal Lantern. Oliver Cromwell's house is around the corner and shows what life was like in the 17th Century. Or reverse time further with a visit to Brandon Heritage Centre. West Stow Anglo Saxon Village is spectacular, and for Brave Hearts Grimes Graves is an amazing Neolithic Flint Mine, where it's possible to descend deep into one of the pits.

East Bergholt

For the chance to walk into a real-life Constable painting, visit Flatford Mill. The mill, the millpond and Willie Lott's Cottage look much as they did when the artist painted them. But visitors should note they cannot go into the buildings - Carol

Ipswich

Jimmys Farm - Follow the TV series & had to go & see for ourselves! Easy to get to via A14 & well signposted. Very admirable venture, it is a lovely setting, there are pigs galore – very cute, the farm is much smaller than it appears on TV but is as disorganised as in they’re missing out on income, e.g. by not “policing” the nature trail (when we were there anyway) entrance to make sure entrants have paid! - Carolyn
