Oundle

Oundle is a small elegant town in Northamptonshire dating back many centuries home to nearly five and a half thousand people. The Nene River, and Water Meadows edge the town where the interesting history is unveiled at every turn of the narrow, ancient alleyways, with charming pale stone buildings. The church of St Peter is 13th Century and commands the skyline with it's magnificent spire, and if shopping is yearned for there's interesting shops and a Market that's held once a week. A gentle stroll around three lakes at Barnwell Country Park soothes the Soul, or smaller visitors can have fun in the Play Area or possibly feed the ducks. For animals of a different kind it has to be Hamerton Zoo Park, or maybe Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre will be favourite as there are majestic Shire Horses, a farm, and an 18th Century working Water Mill. For Medieval architecture Southwick Hall is a Manor House that has fine furniture, elegant rooms, and stunning grounds. Artists take up position as they capture the brightly coloured yachts at Oundle Marina, or railway enthusiasts could be tempted to visit Nene Valley Railway which will be rewarded with an exciting ride on a steam train that journeys through picturesque countryside.
