Broadway
Broadway is everybodys idea of a quintessential Cotswolds village and gets rather busy in the summer months as a consequence. However the honey coloured centre is a delight to stroll around and the nearby Broadway Tower Country Park is well worth a trip.
Harvington
Harvington is an attractive village in the county of Worcestershire, close to the historic Market town of Evesham, and beautiful Stratford Upon Avon, the village has exquisite houses dating back to the 15th and 16th Centuries, and a delightful church with an unusual spire fashioned from copper. The surrounding area will entice walkers to linger, or there is always Chaddesley Woods National Nature Reserve nearby. The Medieval and Elizabethan Manor House Harvington Hall is skirted by an impressive Moat, there's fascinating rooms with rare wall paintings, and period furniture which conjures thoughts of a time long since past. For a link with the Bard, Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery is an enchanting 15th Century half timbered thatched cottage,that was the home of Shakespeare's wife before they married, or turn to the first chapter with Shakespeare's birthplace, a tour around the rooms shares an intriguing insight into the life of William Shakespeare. Or be prepared to be amazed when visiting Kinver Edge and Rock Houses, once home to Britain's Cave Dwellers, the sandstone creations have stunning views across to the Malvern Hills and Wales. Or for those who enjoy messing about on the river, climb aboard for a memorable voyage of discovery along the River Avon.
Little Malvern
During a short break to the pretty town of Malvern in the Malvern Hills, had the dog with us so were taking him for a walk when we stumbled across this rather different, eye-catching shop. They welcomed us & the dog in (a refreshing change!), even though he did eye-up their quirky doorstops as dog toys! The stock is made from reclaimed, recycled, unusual anything, ranging from little chickens made from carrier bags & jeans egg cosies to paper maché money boxes & shell earrings – a brilliant (& startlingly innovative) idea! Items are handmade, supporting the small trader from all over the world. Well worth a visit, if only to marvel at what can be fashioned from a coke can – well, it impressed us! Worcester
An historic city dominated by the totally magnificent cathedral which dates from Norman times. There is of course a lot more to the city today though few boast a history so rich and intriguing. Boat along the river, go out in the car and follow the Elgar Trail - fairly easy to see why the countryside inspired Land Of Hope And Glory - or Shop in the vibrant centre. However whatever you do a visit to the Royal Worcester Visitor Centre is a must. It is porcelain that has made the city renowned worldwide. With substantial English Civil War connections and perfectly placed to explore the Wye Valley, Cotswolds and the stunning Malvern Hills the city is truly worth a visit. And the cathedral is stunning. Honestly. Population 95,000
