Glenview is a fine example of traditional croft architecture. It was originally built around 1900 by a local merchant as a home and village shop and used as such for many years. The local "bodachs" (old men) still remember when; as boys; they helped bring up the supplies landed by the Glasgow steamer in the bay below the Hotel. Glenviews positioning between Skyes largest town of Portree and Uig; the ferry port to North Uist and Harris; at the north of the island provides the perfect base from which to explore Skye. Our proximity to Uig is ideal for those visitors who wish to experience another Scottish Isle with day trips to Harris an opportunity not to be missed. Trotternish is an area of great natural beauty and home to some of Skyes most iconic land marks such as the Old Man of Storr; Kilt Rock; the Trotternish Ridge and the rocky cliffs of the Quiraing as well as being home to a great variety of plant and bird life. We are a friendly and creative team here at The Glenview with a passion for food and hospitality and look forward to being your hosts to the island. We are happy to provide an early ferry breakfast for those travelling on through Uig to explore further the Outer Isles.Inside; The Glenview is both comfortable and relaxed. We have a guest lounge with a wood fire providing the perfect place to unwind with a book; play games or simply sit back with a pre-dinner drink which might include a local whisky.
