Ord House Hotel is a 17th Century home situated in 40 acres of gardens and woodlands near Inverness, the Highland Capital. It has been awarded an AA 2 star rating and a red rosette for food. The house was originally the Laird's house of the Clan McKenzie. It was cleverly converted into a hotel 40 years ago but still retains all the original features, elegance and charm. It is a romantic spot and ideally situated for tourists, walkers, weekend breaks and sportsmen.The sportsman is ideally suited to Ord House. The Conan and Beauly rivers are renowned for salmon fishing and are only a short drive away. Muir of Ord has it's own 18 hole golf course which guests can enjoy at a special rate. There are nearby trout lochs where fishing can be done from either a boat or the bank. Loch Ness is only a 15 minute drive away. There are boat trips, a museum to persuade the sceptical of the existence of "Nessie" and the famous Urquhart castle to visit. For the historian there is Dunrobin Castle and gardens, Brodie Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Inverewe Gardens and Cawdor Castle.
