Restaurants in St Pauls
With Paternoster Chop House, Terence Conran proves he knows how to make the best of British. A modern, (naturally) white-walled restaurant in a new development directly behind St Paul's, even its design is British. Flooring is grey English slate, the sweeping bar partly made of native oak, and the red and brown seating upholstered in local leather. The simple, tempting menu is a sublime showcase of excellent British produce, ranging from Brundish onion tart to steak and kidney pudding. Specialist sections, among them shellfish, and savouries and puddings, make ordering easier. 'Beast of the day' and 'fish of the day' are highly recommended. An extensive wine list includes several award-winning English wines. Expect a predominantly corporate crowd - CEOs, City folk and other money makers - especially at lunchtimes.
