Just off Queen Street, opposite the back of the Hilton, Cardiff's Slug & Lettuce is in a great location. Former home to Bar Med, this is a spacious, smart modern café/bar/pub painted in cheery pink, lavender and cream, broken up by modern art paintings. A large horse shoe central bar serves several wines by glass, and cool bottled beers. A wide-ranging menu and big squishy seating in the lounge areas attract families and professionals by day. The choice of dishes cleverly suits virtually every occasion – there are snacks and light bites for when you just want a nibble, dim sum and mezze platters for sharing, and proper mains for when you're really hungry. Popular with lunching office workers on weekdays and bar crawlers on weekends when DJs hit the decks. Loudly!
