If you're a theatre buff you'll love Mezzaluna. It's bang next to the Theatre Royal in Bath. Take in a show, and take in a meal too. They do a prompt pre- or post-theatre menu for under £14 for two courses. Or you could save the show for another evening, and take your time at this stylish Italian restaurant. The curtain rises on the antipasti – crostone con fegatine (featuring pan-fried chicken liver with shallots, Chianti and chilli). For act two, the protagonists include garganelli alla scapece – with courgettes, rugola and garlic; salmone alla ligure – with pecorino, herbs and pesto; and rack of lamb with the chef's own blueberry sauce. And how about profiteroles for a dramatic climax? You'll leave wanting more. Just don't get carried away with Italian passion and shout 'encore'. Save that for the theatre.
