Set in a private lane in the pretty village of Portinscale, which is on the north-westerley tip of Lake Derwentwater, is Rickerby Grange. Now a fourteen bedroom country house hotel, it was originally built at the turn of the century by a local farmer for his daughter. It was, as its name implies, 'The Grange' to Rickerby House, which is situated close by the village.

Set in its own gardens, Rickerby Grange offers a friendly ambience in peaceful surroundings, overlooked by Skiddaw, Cat Bells and Causey Pike. All areas of the Lake District are easily accessed, making Portinscale the perfect base from which to explore this magnificent corner of England.

Our traditional, freshly prepared five-course dinners are prepared with care and imagination and served in the elegant dining room. A carefully selected wine list complements our cuisine during an evening at Rickerby Grange. Relax with your favourite drink in the cosy lounge... perhaps an aperitif before your coffee afterwards.

Our bedrooms are all centrally heated and equipped with colour television, direct-dial telephone and hospitality tray. All but two are fully en-suite, with a choice of bath or shower. We have three ground-floor bedrooms.
