The Compasses Pub Stansfield Situated in the heart of the Suffolk Country side, was often captured in Gainsborough's paintings, so when Ron and Jaqcue took over The Compasses at Stansfield they aimed to create an affable atmosphere in the restaurant that fits seamlessly into the surroundings. Catch up with friends in the lounge area or unwind with a glass of wine in the bar at the end of a hectic day.

Ron's previous stint at two Michelin starred restaurants in Holland may have expanded his sphere of culinary ideas but his cooking at the compasses looks closer to home for influence. So from the regularly changing menu there is potted game with a sweet mustard pickle, chicken liver pâté with Cumberland sauce and sautéed garlic mushrooms for starters. Main courses of skate wing with capers and a brown white wine butter and honey glazed pheasant breast with red cabbage and a fruity red port sauce celebrates all things British.
