Sitting right on the border between the lovely villages of Penn and Tylers Green in South Bucks, The Old Queens Head exudes bags of character and atmosphere. The Dining Room dates from 1666, the same year as the Great Fire of London with several later additions, giving rise to lots of cosy corners, real fires and more changes in floor level than you can poke a stick at. There are great walks nearby in Common and Penn Woods, both of which are ancient beech woodlands that have changed little over the centuries.
Many hours have been well spent at local auctions finding lovely old furniture and pictures in keeping with the age of the pub. Warm heritage colours mix with glowing dark floorboards, flagstones, rugs and classic fabrics to give welcome relief on a cold winter‚s day. For the summer we‚ve got a sunny terrace overlooking the village church of St Margaret‚s and a large garden to while away the hours in.
This is a great pub, which also does fantastic food. Expect lots of laughs, great service and plenty of good old-fashioned hospital
