The lovely 15th Century Nags Head Inn and restaurant has been recently
restored to its former glory under the ownership of the Michaels family.
An old coaching house on the London Road, south of Great Missenden on the
river Misbourne in the glorious Chilterns. The Nags Head retains some of its
original features including a large inglenook fireplace and low oaked beams
and includes many new stylish features including a new bar and beautifully
refurbished bedroom ensuites. In the summer you can dine alfresco in the
delightful large garden. An old favourite of Roald Dahl and visited by many
heads of states on their way to Chequers, you will receive a warm welcome
from one of the Michaels and their team.
Now an award winning restaurant including an AA Rosette and an AA 4 star Inn
rating for its luxury accommodation, it serves an English and French fusion
menu by award winning chefs Claude Paillet and Alan Bell.
Food is their passion where they only use the finest produce sourced locally
where possible.
You can expect to find favourites of home smoked fishes and meats; fresh
oysters and prawns; duo of pan fried fois gras and mis-cuit with home made
chutneys to their famous aged matured fillets of beef with a choice of
sauces, local game and daily fresh fish and specials, not to mention a large
section of mouth watering puddings. Don't forget about their great
traditional Sunday Roast which is a must where much of the produce is
sourced from local farms, but do book ahead.
