This fabulous 16 century pub, tucked away in the Kent countryside yet easily accessible, provides an opportunity to enjoy first class food in traditional English surroundings. Immersed in character, the Great House has three dining areas, together with a magnificent Orangery, which is licensed for Civil Ceremonies. The Orangery opens on to a beautiful herb garden, heavy with scent during the summer and a stunning Mediterranean terrace perfect for those lazy days in the sun. The Great House with its roaring log fires during the winter months is the perfect place for cosy intimate dining, a gathering of friends and family or a private party during the festive period. The delicious menu, whilst traditional, shows a definite French influence; hardly surprising as the head chef heads a mainly French team in the kitchens. Ingredients are fresh, locally sourced where possible and everything is prepared and cooked in house and to order. Dishes range from established favourites such as slow cooked lamb shank, using traditionally reared Kentish lamb through to more exotic choices such Escabeche of red mullet or wild mushroom risotto. To complement your meal, there is a thoughtful selection of around 80 world wines together with a range of 30 draught and bottled beers. A wonderful Sunday lunch is available, with a choice of three roasts, as well as the full a la carte menu.
