Another Old Street bar? Yes, and what a stunner. Tabernacle's sleek and stylish NYC chic cover two floors of a Victorian warehouse with an airy ground floor bar, a spacious late-night lounge with DJ's (Thur-Sat) and a 60-cover restaurant adorned with gorgeous handmade Italian chandeliers. Any time of day Tabernacle is there for us; in the morning for a quick coffee or breakfast. Ready with a sumptuous lunch or evening meal in the restaurant, or waiting with a glass of your favourite tipple in the bar after work. But back to the food; Ian Graham (Mezzo, Smiths, 15 and Providores working with Peter Gordon, John Torode & Jamie Oliver) cooks up some fantastic dishes influenced by Italian cuisine and modern European dishes. Must-tries are squid, braised endive and chilli jam, steak borlotti with truffle laced bone marrow and coconut crème brulée with peppered pineapple. Of course we must also mention the cocktail list, expertly designed & put together in-house. It also changes frequently so perfect excuse to keep going back.
