Doddington Hall is a superb Elizabethan mansion completed in 1600 by the brilliant architect, Robert Smythson. The Hall stands today exactly as it was built with its walled gardens, gatehouse and family church. The elegant Georgian interior contains a fascinating collection of pictures, textiles, porcelain and furniture that reflect four centuries of unbroken family occupation. Doddington Hall is surrounded by five acres of romantic, formal and wild gardens. Walled courtyards feature crisp topiary, a knot garden, and sumptuous borders in which Flag Iris and Peonies are a speciality. The wild gardens feature a turf maze, a fabulous spring bulb display, rare rhododendrons, ancient chestnut trees, a temple of the winds and watergarden.
