Built on the side of a seventeenth-century building, The Clarendon Restaurant combines historic charm with modern cuisine and up-to-the-minute service. The restaurant is light and airy, very near a seventeen acre historic wood for postprandial strolls, with a pleasant ambience. The contemporary British menu - with a hint of fresh flavour - changes daily, but we can recommend the starter of monkfish and crab gallettes with ginger and spring onion salsa, followed by the chargrilled tournedos of beef, herb dauphinoise, with port and meaux mustard jus, or the seared fillets of seabass with caramelised shallots and plum tomato salsa. Lovely presentation.
