Situated just off junction 21 of the M5, The Helicopter Museum is not only Weston-super-Mare’s largest undercover attraction but also the only helicopter collection in the country and the largest in the World !! With over 70 full size aircraft on display ranging from an impressive Russian gunship to a massive Super Frelon 36 seat passenger helicopter there is plenty to see and do. Visitors can view the veteran rotorcraft of the Vietnam conflict and even see the Queen’s own Royal Flight helicopters ( She actually came herself to visit and view these only last year ! ). For younger visitors there is an outside themed play area featuring real helicopters and a display of toy helicopters old, new and rare.

The award winning museum also hosts regular “Helicopter Experience Flights”. During the 15 mile flight along the local coastline passengers get the opportunity to view Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding countryside from a totally unique new angle and at the same time learn how rotorcraft work and fly via commentary from the experienced pilots. All flights take off and land from the museum’s very own active Heliport (where you can often observe visiting military and civil aircraft).

The Helicopter museum has its own large free car and coach park as well as a picnic site, café and gift shop.

Events this year include our monthly ‘Open Cockpit Days’, Seasonal Exhibitions, ‘Spotters Weekends’ and a ‘Giant Craft Fayre and Fun Day’ in December.
