The Hungry Monk is a charming restaurant nestled in the foothills of
the South Downs, between Eastbourne and Brighton. You can choose to have
pre-dinner drinks on the terrace or in one of the cosy sitting rooms before
wandering through to the beamy main dining room for dinner. There are four
beautiful private dining rooms for parties of 4 to 16. This restaurant is
famous as the birthplace of Banoffi (Banoffee) Pie. The menu is Modern
British, with typical dishes such as Organic Salmon with Pink Peppercorn
Crust and Yellow Pepper Sauce or Crisp Breast of Norfolk Duckling served
with Spiced Plums. Typical puddings include Chocolate Fudge and Orange Tart
with Crème Fraiche, Damson and Rice Pudding Brulée and of course, Banoffi
Pie!
The restaurant is listed in the Which? Food Guide, The Michelin Guide, The
Good Food Guide and The AA Restaurant Guide.
Vegetarian and children's menus available, (children over the age of 3 are
welcome). No smoking in the dining room. Car parking available.
