The Village House is now under the ownership of Paul Hills and Oliver Silverthorne and underwent a major refurbishment in early 2008, moving the bar across the room has opened up a bright and roomy bay window and installing a new log burner has given the pub a warm and cosy feeling. We also have regular live entertainment with Jazz nights, popular music nights and themed charity quiz nights amongst other events, see events page for details. We have six individually furnished en suite bedrooms-including one four poster- and each room has colour TV, coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryer and alarm clocks. Our philosophy reflects the charm of the village so if a tranquil setting and atmosphere is what you are looking for we strive to make your stay a relaxing one. The Village House has always been one of the focal points of the village, so we try to cater for everyone from ramblers and cyclists looking for a reviving snack to families on the go, to people looking for great food using great local produce. We strive very hard to source local produce (our chef even meets the local fisherman every morning to select fresh fish of the day) and have built a reputation for truly special freshly prepared fish and chips. All our food can be enjoyed in the restaurant or the newly refurbished bar which boasts a variety of real ales, lagers, premium spirits and malt whiskies with a wine list carefully selected by ourselves that combines old world maturity with new world freshness. For the summer months you can relax in our picturesque enclosed beer garden and enjoy great weekend barbeques (weather permitting) and fresh summer food.
