We chose this hotel for our New Years Eve venue. The room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom is in need of updating, it spoiled the overall impression of the room. A maid turned down the bed and wished us a pleasant evening. We were a party of 7 with one coeliac and one coeliac/lactose intolerant. The meal was well prepared with the Maitre D ensuring he vetted each course ensuring it was suitable for out two 'intolerants' this made them feel safe--not always the case in British hotels. The serving staff were pleasant and very friendly. The entertainment rounded off a very pleasant evening. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in at a hotel and the room temp. was kept comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was again served by pleasant friendly staff with very courtesy shown to our 'specials'. Overall a good impression was given with pleasant courteous staff and comfortable rooms. One of the rooms another of the party stayed in had been refurbished and was of a higher standard than ours, but this did not detract from the overall experience.

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I have eaten in its restaurant. The service we received was the worst I have ever experienced. Not slow, just appalling. The waiting staff had no idea of etiquette or manners (some were downright rude) and there was no leadership. Many complaints about service were made on the day but the Manager did nothing to improve the situation. I subsequently wrote a letter of complaint to the Hotel Manager and have not had the courtesy of a response. Food was OK and room nice - pity about the service and customer care.
