Reviews of Famous Grouse Experience - Glenturret Distillery, Crieff

This is one of Scotland's prettiest distilleries. The tour focuses on the company's main blended brand The Famous Grouse, which is a bit of a shame as the Glenturret malt whisky is excellent. As with all distillery tours, it finishes with a dram of whisky, but unlike most tours, this dram is one of Grouse, which is a disappointment. The restaurant is well priced and the food is good and the shop has loads to take away (not just the Famous Grouse). The entry on the Information Britain website says this is the only distillery to visit, but it most definitely is not. There are 41 distilleries with visitor centres in Scotland. Some tours are better than this one, some are not, but apart from about three places, all offer a malt as their complimentary dram. Best distillery tour? Probably Bruichladdich on the Isle of Islay and Aberlour on Speyside.
