BRILLIANT!! After only planning on having a meal, upon arrival we discovered the "Romantic Break" offer they provide and decided to stay for the evening. £89 for the 2 of us which includes a 4 course meal for both of us and a bottle of wine which we had the choice off the wine menu. Added to this also was the full breakfast for us both which "The Fox and Hounds grill" comes highly recommended. The whole evening was very much enjoyed and it was nice to stay in a warm and welcoming country hotel. All the staff seemed friendly (Almost like a family)which we later discovered the management team are all a family. They take great pride in their presentation of food and the rooms were lovely. All in all a great valued experience and we will be returning!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Thanks to all the staff!

This used to be a very good, quality establishment. However, my recent experience leaves a lot to be desired and I have since spoken to others who are in agreement with me. The place has gone to the dogs... the service is poor, slow and slovenly, I do not blame the staff as the there was only one chap serving who was running around like an idiot and did the very best he could, whilst the manager looked on. (we gave him a good tip!). The meals were at best adequate and there was a lot of waiting around for a carvery which was already cooked! The place no longer has that friendly feel to it and I think they are riding on a previous excellent reputation which the current managers are determined to destroy... shame!

our stay at the Fox and Hounds left us feeling somewhat short-changed. we read the hotel's own description of its individually styled rooms, and in particular, its bathrooms, being described as luxurious, with either French Tubs with shower, or Walk-In Shower Cubicles. Sadly we were given a room with just the latter, but nonetheless, were not too worried as the shower itself was bound to be a Power-Shower??....or maybe not. after an hour of the water slowly drizzling out, what should have been a refreshing relaxing experience, turned into a disappointing frustrating one. and so to dinner. this started well, with a very pleasant waitress attending to my partner and i, until halfway through our meal, then she apparently went home. nothing wrong in this, but it would have been courteous of her to do some sort of handover to her fellow colleague. however, whilst our meals were tasty enough, i had chosen the fishpie and on encountering a mouthful containing several bones, i was then continuing my meal somewhat put off, (and picking out the bones as i went). when the "second" waitress glibly asked "was everything ok with your meal?", i had to say that actually it was not and explained the bones issue. whilst apologetic, she did not appear that bothered and asked if we would like to see the dessert menu, to which we replied yes we would......that was the last we saw of her. we waited, and waited (during which time someone else walked through the dining room with their dog to let it out through the patio doors!!!)..we gave up waiting and went and sat in the bar. to our surprise she reappeared about 45 minutes later and promptly handed us the bill (not the dessert menu). having already had a disappointing weekend elsewhere we had been looking forward to our stay here, but it merely rounded off our break in the wrong way. if the hotel description is going to "big up" its bathrooms, they should at the very least fit pressure showers into the ones with JUST showers? overall, a less than satisfactory stay.
