Definite recommend. Having booked rooms in what was described as a cottage I began to worry it could turn out to be what is euphemistically called a lodge. In fact it was like a cleverly done barn conversion, complete with terrific bathrooms and view over the duck pond. Food in the ancient manor was excellent – dinner very reasonably priced (£81 for three of us with drinks) and including perfectly presented local oysters for my starter and top-notch puds. Breakfast after a good night’s sleep equally good, with quick but friendly service mirroring the receptionist’s when we arrived. We used it as a stop-over for one night, would be very happy to return for a longer break.
